Keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts allow you to quickly navigate Bookmark OS using keyboard commands. The following commands can also be found by clicking the settings icon () in the Bookmark OS navigation for quick reference.

Item navigation

Navigate items:

↓↑←→

Use the arrow keys to change which item you are highlighting. Once a bookmark or folder is highlighted, you can open it by pressing the 'o' key. You can also press the down arrow when searching and highlight the first item.

Highlight item:

h

then type item name

Highlighting allows you to quickly highlight an item by typing it's name. For example, if you are in a folder and know there is a folder somewhere named 'Yummy recipes,' you could press 'h' and then type the letter 'y' to highlight it. Then press 'o' to open. If there are other items that start with 'y,' keep typing 'yummy' until it is highlighted.

You can quickly open a bookmark or folder by highlighting it and pressing the 'o' key.

Search:

f

Press the 'f' key to enter the search input. To exit the search input press the 'tab' key. You can also exit the search input by pressing the down arrow. This will highlight the first item.

View all:

a

Press the 'a' key to enter 'View all' mode

Go back:

g

then

b

Press the 'g' key then quickly press the 'b' key to go back. This is the same as clicking on the back arrow in the upper left.

Go forward:

g

then

f

Press the 'g' key then quickly press the 'f' key to go forward. This is the same as clicking on the forward arrow in the upper left.

Open parent folder:

g

then

p

Press the 'g' key then quickly press the 'p' key to open the parent folder of the current folder.

Misc

New folder:

n

then

f

Press the 'n' key then quickly press the 'f' key to create a new folder.

New bookmark:

n

b

Press the 'n' key then quickly press the 'b' key to create a new bookmark.

New note:

n

Press the 'n' key then quickly press the 'n' key to create a new note.

New to-do:

Press the 'n' key then quickly press the 't' key to create a new to-do.

Edit item

e

Press the 'e' key to edit a bookmark or folder.

Move items

m

Press the 'm' key to move items to a different folder.

Delete items

backspace

Press the 'backspace' key to delete highlighted items.

Get info

i

Press the 'i' key to 'get info' about a highlighted item.

Toggle starred

r

Press the 'r' key to toggle starred bookmarks.

Enter tag

t

Press the 't' key to enter tags.

Clear filters

c

Press the 'c' key to clear any active filters (tags, time filters, and type filters).

Open to-do inbox

x

Press the 'x' key to open to to-do inbox.

Unfocus input field

tab

Press 'tab' to leave an input field. For example, if you are done entering tags or searching, press 'tab' to unfocus the input field. You could then start to issue other commands, like 'g' then 'b' to go back.
